I have had the Recaro for awhile now. Is it a big seat? YES. But honestly, reading some of the reviews, I am surprised people had such a hard time fitting it in their car. It makes me wonder if they are doing something wrong. I have it rear facing in the rear passenger side. I own a 2006 Jetta. It's not a big car. But the seat (when in recline, which it should be when rear facing) does not block my view in any way and I certainly have no issues getting my 2 year old in and out of it. And like any toddler, he occasionally fights getting into the car. I mentioned that it is being used rear facing in my car right? I just don't see how people are complaining about it not fitting in theirs and not being able to get their child in it due to lack of room when mine works just fine in a little VW Jetta. Like I said, it is a big seat and it is a tall seat, but this is a good thing in terms of safety IMO.
I enjoy many many things about this car seat and will happily buy another one for any child that comes along here. It's beyond safe and tested beyond US requirements (benefit of European testing as they exceed US requirements for safety) and so very nice and comfy for your little one. I think the only complaint if I had to give one is the fabric I have on mine isn't as breathable as I'd like. It'd be perfect in a colder state, but I live in the desert so it gets a bit sweaty during the summer. And maybe the infant thing since there is no way a newborn is going to fit comfortably and properly in this seat on the lowest adjustable strap height. I'd say on average though, after about 3-4 months of age, it should work well.

My daughter has been in this car seat since she was about 12 months old. She is now 19 months and we still absolutely love it. My husband installed it in my car and didn't have any trouble. It is very sturdy and very secure. We still have her rear facing and her feet are on the seat, but she seems perfectly comfortable and doesn't mind being in it. We bought a Britax for a second car seat for my husband's truck and it is a piece of crap compared to the Recaro. We just ordered another Recaro for his truck and my in-laws are getting one for their car too. It is worth the extra $40-50. They make race car seat - they have to know what they are doing! The safety features on it sold me. It is a little bulky in the rear facing position, but worth it for the safety. I have a Lexus RX 400H and it is in the middle and fits just fine.

We purchased the Recaro ProRide car seat for our 9 month old son for my husband's car (4 door Cadillac CTS-V) and immediately returned it this week. Unfortunately, the car seat is so large (both tall and deep) that there is no way we would ever be able to get our 9 month old son in or out of the car while it is rear-facing. Additionally, the straps were too short to allow us to use the LATCH system. We therefore returned it to Amazon.

I am honestly surprised that more people haven't run into the size or LATCH issue. A Cadillac CTS is a large sedan, so I can't imagine how this would fit in a small car or a coupe.

We've instead purchased the Britax Boulevard which is far smaller but still a very sturdy and well-rated car seat. I would not consider the Recaro car seat unless you will be using it in forward-facing mode.

Funny side note: We were looking forward to using this Recaro baby car seat as my husband's car's seats are actually made by Recaro (so we were able to get an exact color match to his upholstery)... so we were very shocked to see that the Recaro baby seat was not compatible with a car that also has built in Recaro seats. Very odd.
